The first and the last

Notice your breath on the night
The last day of the year is coming

Cumulative view of my creations
Where do I store them?
In my sleep where the winter water
Froze me to the sheets with
The hose frozen to the house?

Remember the garden, the black train
The walk into the future through
A stranger’s open window?
And later a stranger walked in
Through mine, became a friend.

Remember the flu, the flights
The finding each other’s hands
Through static and miracles
A bed rich with comfort
Close the curtains, open them wide.

Coffee morning dance party
The first day of the year is coming
